Open Doors in 2020

Open Doors in 2020

We’re beginning a new year and decade, and there are new challenges, goals, and desires that we hope to reach – a whole new journey marked out for us!

At the end of each year, I always ask God to show me a word, phrase, or Bible verse that I can hold on to throughout the upcoming year, and this year was no different!

Late last year, I traveled with my family up north in the cold winter in Ontario, Canada. One night, we decided to visit the arena where the Toronto Raptors play, but little did we know that after walking seven blocks through deteriorating weather, we would arrive at a closed arena. As we got ready to walk back, my curious nephew opened one of the arena’s doors and we were able to walk through the inside of the arena, take a few pictures, and enjoy the place. As we braced ourselves to walk back to our hotel in the freezing weather, I decided to try another door and it led us to the hallway of another building. Long story short, we walked the seven blocks back to our hotel through various interconnected doors and buildings without having to step one foot outside.

I share this story with you to help you understand that there are doors in front of us that we don’t walk through simply because we think that they’re locked or they seem that way. But friend, today I want to tell you that there are situations that you’re living right now that you probably think there’s no way out of, but Jesus said in Matthew 7:7-8, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

And just like all the doors opened for my family and we didn’t have to walk in the brutal cold that night, so God tells you: Keep knocking and don’t give up because I, your Heavenly Father, am faithful and will come through on everything I’ve promised you.

So let’s continue leaning into everything that God wants to do in, through, and for us in 2020; the door is open!
